Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who's the Proudest Mom of ALL???

I AM!!! It's me!!!

Tonight my daughter is officially an East Central University Tiger GOLFER!!! Now obtaining an athletic scholarship is definitely something to be proud of but there is so much more and I. AM. HERE. TO. TELL. YOU all of it!

Here is a conversation I had with my son about my daughter tonight:

Me: I do not think she realizes how brave she is!
Reece: I don't think she knows how intimidating she is when she plays.
Me: Can you imagine in your Sophomore year dropping all that you know and picking up a new sport?
Reece: She just doesn't know how good she is!

Bottom line - My brave young lady at the age of 15 decided that Volleyball, Softball, and Cheerleading was no longer for her and she thought she might have a swagger or at least a little swing! (pun intended) She picked up a golf club and here we are today!

One very minor tidbit about me: I have two favorite colors, odd combo yes but they do not necessarily have to go together at the same time! I love purple and I love orange! My daughter is ORANGE now and my son has his sights on purple (TCU)! - and yes for golf too!

And for those of you who know me from my teenage years - I STILL HAVE AND FIT AND WEAR MY ORANGE ESPRIT SHOES!!! Now I have a great reason, cuz orange is gonna stay in season!
So now while the house is quiet, a gentle reminder of what is to come all too soon, I sit here to share this with you! Now to the nitty gritty - join me in my thoughts!

Can you remember when you were 15? How daring were you? I think I was in very stupid matters but not daring enough when it came to excelling.

When I first signed Sara into day care in Tulsa, Ok I would receive calls with statements like this:
Do you know that instead of playing "in" the doll house she climbs on it and jumps off?
Did you know that she can scale a tree like a monkey?
etc etc. That is my daughter - the Sky ISN'T A Limit at all!

So at 15 after years of cheering, softball, and volleyball she decides that she is going to play golf and obtain a scholarship. Ok, Sara - whatever you want to do you will have our full support!! Love Mom and Dad

So swing away she did, and swing, and swing, and swing. I would be remiss if I did not give credit where it is due.

My son Reece was already a member of the First Tee of Fort Worth (best chapter ever) and it was natural for Sara to do the same. After a few months she was already showing great signs of leadership and began to help younger beginners. They have given her many opportunities to grow not just in golf but in life skills through their 9 Core Values. You can check out the First Tee website for yourself.

Next, is her high school coach: Coach Richard Norman! You can see the pride is in his eyes as if she were his own granddaughter! He has allowed Sara to be Sara and she has grown through his undying dedication and encouragement!
By the way, ECU is his Alma mater!

And of course, last but not least, her dad. He has skipped sleep to be there for both the kids when I have to work. His tireless dedication will be appreciated even more in years to come when she has a child of her own and sees the sacrifice to help make dreams come true.

Well I am on cloud 9 tonight with pride for my daughter and praise for my FATHER!
The ultimate praise belongs to the Lord who equipped this child for this good work, which happens to be fun and paying for college! Great gifts have great benefits when used properly!

Go Sara Go! I can't wait to watch you grow just wish you did not have to go! If I was not so excited I would be a lot more upset about this! But with all the pride and love I can even muster I support you and I am your biggest fan! I love you baby girl!!!

Even in this Abiding Still,
Chel

Let me say thank you to....

...ATT for offering a fairly low price on text messages. My daughter had a grand total of 10834 messages for last month's bill. Ten thousand eight hundred thirty four text messages! Seriously? How is this possible and still do school work, play golf, have family time, church, etc. How how how?

I truly don't know but I am worried that this generation will not know how to carry on a decent conversation with people face to face. So with this amazing technology what will be next?

I have the iPhone and it totally rocks. I love Apple and I love the Genius's at the Apple Store, they rock too!! I have had so much fun with phone but I have not broken 200 on messages to my knowledge.

I am still in shock and I am so grateful we have unlimited messages otherwise this bill would not work out for us and I would have to sell my first born and her inheritance! Well that would be the text queen herself.

Once again, I am thankful because it could have been more than a laugh in this house with that number of messages. But since I am out of work AGAIN, I told her to have fun because although I can't cancel phones, I can cancel phone "stuff" to save money. YIKES!!

I wonder if there is a 12 step program for texters and if there is a place where they can go through their withdrawals. There is one thing I know for sure us Moms have to unite!

It sure is quiet in here....

The Entertainer....

My daughter is at camp right now and I only have 3 more years of high school left with her. I am still not sure if she will be staying home and going to school locally or if she will indeed go away and leave us quiet and unentertained. She had announced about 3 years ago she would go to school locally because she really enjoyed having a meal every night and was afraid of starving in a dorm. But after a year in high school I think she is ready to leave. This last year had her home a lot but that is another post!!

She has always been so humorous from feeding the VCR (that ancient device) her little troll dolls and declaring all things disgusting because she finally learned a big word. Once, at age 4 she sat alone at a table looking very sad after a baby shower for a friend. I went to her and asked why she was sitting there looking so sad and she plainly asked, "When are we going to wash the babies?" We still laugh about that one.

I keep waiting for the day that she will become a Veternarian Barbie Doctor. She could say the word right but would get fantasy and reality mixed up, much like her teen years now. She was in a video at age 5 which should have landed her right beside Bill Cosby on kids say the darndest things. From the Barbie doctor comment to the wanting a tatoo at her tender young age I have never been bored with her around.

The other night at dinner my son announced that it was sure quiet without sissy around. And boy is he right! She keeps us in stitches with her candor and entertained with her singing. I believe she was born with a song in her heart. Choir teachers have always loved having her in class because she learns so quickly and she still learns a song word for word the first go-round.

This poor child has painted her feet and hands with red polish, painted her play pin with an unmentionable product, climbed before she walked - no really, escaped the house to go to the neighbors to eat milk and cookies, announced at church that her mommy has the yield sign buddy, asked me if I danced for a living or if it was me singing on the radio - awwww NOT, had the day care asking me if I had trouble keeping her on the ground, told her Kinder teacher that she had been swimming with sharks over the summer and climbed to the top of the Statue of Liberty, you name it she has dreamed it or said and NOW SHE IS GOING TO DRIVE? PLEASE JESUS HELP US ALL....

This child of mine is so much fun and has a lot of me and her father in her to make her one interesting piece of work and she gets the insanity from him......
What can I say to this....She is gorgeous!

She has now taken up golf because the club is one of the many things that has wacked her in the head..she is hoping to play golf and get into a college of her choice in order to become an orthodontist. I admire this child who is wise beyond her years and I thoroughly enjoy my little Princess who leaves not one boring moment for any of us.

I miss her and it is truly very quiet here!
